Norman Yanikun

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, USA on 16 JULY 1917. Norman came to Deia for the first time in 1959 to pursue his passion for painting, which he began at the end of WWII and continued until his death. Norman lived by the Font Fresca where you could find him summer or winter doing his ablutions, a mirror hanging on the stonewall so he could shave. His second love was music and he played the recorder and piano. His melodious sounds could be heard across the landscape late at night. He also played chess whenever he could. His paintings of clowns, musicians, fantasy creatures, abstractions and curvaceous figures can be seen in the house he lived and worked in for over forty years until his death. . .
