Ed Sanders

Born in Holland, Ed came to Deia in the 1960s to work with Bill Waldren. University, between digging up bones and moving stones, like Waldren he began to work with the olive wood they cut down on the digs. He was surprised when people wanted to buy his work and as the wood was transformed into smooth curvaceous surfaces the demand for his sculpture took precedent over archaeology and palaeontology.  Ed died at 44 from cancer. His wife Gabriella and their daughter Moira, who was born here, continue to live in Deia.
