Bill Waldren

Born 1924 Asbury Park, New Jersey. Bill excelled at art when at school and got a scholarship to the Arts Student’s League in New York City when just sixteen. He went on to become a figure skating champion and after a stint in WWII he went to Paris and studied at the Beaux Arts on the GI Bill.  He discovered Deya in 1953 and in 1959 encouraged his Paris friends: Paul Crotto, Noman Yanikun, and George Sheridan to follow. Three times married, he ‘lucked out’ with Jackie and spent the next 45 years in what he felt was “paradise” until his death at 79 in 2003. His love for Deia, art and archaeology are evident in his vast production of paintings, sculptures and the museum he designed and built in 1962.
